welcome..
At home I have a washbasin with a wooden cabinet under it, and as a result of drops of water sometimes leaking into the hinges, damage occurred in one of the hinges, which led to the destruction and expansion of the holes on the wooden cabinet door.
At first, of course, I bought a new hinge, and tried to install a slightly larger screw, but unfortunately, after a few days, the new screw also came out of the hole due to opening and closing.
I couldn't have put in a bigger nail. But I said try another way. I had Gorilla wood glue that I bought from
here Earlier to fix a table.
I put a large amount of glue in the holes to cover them completely, you must make sure that the glue is in the holes only, and never put it on the edges, to avoid sticking the hinge when installing it.
I then put the hinge back in place, put the previous screws in, and left it for a full day without moving.
A day later, I found that the screw was firmly in place, and the hinges could be opened and closed without a problem…. Note: You can spray a little lubricating oil in the nail before placing it in the hole filled with glue, in order to make it easier to remove it from the hole in the future.
There is another way to repair if the hole is large, you can bring sawdust, then mix it with glue and cover the hole with it to try to fix the hole.
If the damage is significant and difficult to repair in this way, a flat metal plate is sold, which can be placed in place of the holes to place a bracket to install the hinge without problems.
To avoid this problem, cabinet hinges should be checked frequently, and any hinge that needs to be replaced promptly.
Also be sure to spray lubricating oil in the hinges under the sink especially, as they are prone to rust.
Choose premium types of hinges for longevity and quality.
